The Hotel is both a Hacienda and a Hotel hence the name Hacienda Hotel Vira Vira. The Hacienda operates a fully fledged farm on over 40ha and has as its principal aim to provide fresh, healthy and delicious food to the guests and to provide an interesting insight into the operations of a modern farm and cheese dairy. The aim is to provide the most personal Hotel accommodation, with tailor made daily excursions and activities as well as the best local food. This is what they call “The Elegance of Adventure” – an experience all day long unrivaled by anything else.

SAN SEBASTIAN TREKKING
Description: Setting off from the hotel, we head straight to the Huerquehue National Park where we walk through a native forest, slowly ascending Quinchol. After 40 minutes trekking, we reach 1,000m and the charming Araucarias (this region‘s emblematic Monkey Puzzle trees) start to come into view more and more. At the end of this tour, we reach the pampas at the top of the hill, and are rewarded with amazing views of the volcanoes and lake

Description: After arriving at the park, the tour starts with a walk inside an Araucaria (Monkey Puzzle) and Coigue forest. You will notice that the ground is dappled with pyroclastic (volcanic fragments also known as tephra) due to the last eruption in 2015. CERRO ESPEJO TREKKING
Description: On arrival at the park, we begin hiking through a native forest. As we climb, we reach the base of the Villarrica Volcano where we will observe volcanic footprint left by old eruption. Continuing to the top of Cerro Espejo, we will enjoy amazing views of the volcanoes Villarrica, Quetrupillán and Lanín, as well as the Andes Mountain Range.

Description: On the Argentinean border, one-hour drive from our Hotel, we arrive at the Quillehue Lagoon where our walk takes us to the base of the Lanín Volcano. Passing beautiful Araucaria, Lenga and Coigue trees, we continue until we reach the Hidden Lagoon, hopefully catching sight of some woodpeckers (known here as carpenter birds), and continuing into an Araucaria forest covered with lichen and emerging at the Huinfiuca Lagoon.

Description: This trek is perfect for those looking for a beautiful, gentle walk through the forest. The trail takes us past a viewpoint overlooking Tinquilco Lake, and, at the end of the journey, we pass by some charming waterfalls before returning by the same path.

Description: Heading towards the Villarrica Volcano, we start this trek near the ski center coffee area which sits at 1400 meters above sea level. At this point, we begin our walk around the base of the volcano. As well as postcard-perfect views of the region’s lakes, Villarrica and Calafquen, there is also a panorama of another volcano, Llaima. Walking at the base of Villarrica allows you to see volcanic scoria’s left by the eruptions, a rare sight to lay eyes on.

AGUILA & TRUFUL WATERFALLS
Description: On arrival at Huerquehue, this trek takes us along a trail surrounded by centenary trees. We climb the hill, enjoying incredible views of Lake Tinquilco and Villarrica Volcano, until we reach the first waterfall (Nido de Aguila or Eagle’s Nest) before continuing on to the second fall (Truful). Both these waterfalls are sourced from lakes that meet at the top of the hill. A fantastic experience!

Description: Measuring an impressive 2.847 meters, the Villarrica Volcano has the perfect come shape with a mind-blowing open lava pool crater at the top. This makes climbing up this volcano one of the most original and remarkable activities. From the top we can see mountains, volcanoes and countless lakes: the elements that make the Araucaria region view so unique. This tour is highly recommended for people looking for adventure and extremely sports.

CANYONING RIO CORRENTOSO
Description: Get excited to discover Pucon´s green paradise. We begin by driving you close to the well-hidden entrance of the Correntoso canyon which offers three waterfalls for this adventure. At the first one you will be briefed on safety and become familiarized with the equipment. The tour is off route and combines trekking, abseiling and zip-lining. Within the canyon you will find amazing flora and fauna as well as enjoy the fun challenges of canyoning through waterfalls.

Description: In this rock climbing park in the magical Cerduo Valley, we can access the rock face via a series of metal steps. Secured with a harness and fixed lines, we climb approximately 300 meters. This activity allows you to safely get rock contact while enjoying a little bit of Adrenalin

RIO PLATA BIKING
Description: This tour begins just 10 minutes from the hotel. We walk through a field full of animals, taking in the views of the Villarrica Volcano, and at some points skirting along the Liucura River. Later, we reach the observatory located at Quelhue Bridge, where we can see Trancura River and the volcanoes Quetrupillán and Lanín. To complete the trip, we stop at the Rio Plata Beach for a rest admiring the beautiful spectacle of the volcano before returning to the hacienda

MOUNTAIN BIKE EL CERDUO
Description: Nestled between hills and rivers, we cross a field surrounded by young forest until we reach a high point with panoramic views of the Andes Mountain Range (known as the Cordillera). It is hard to take your eyes off the views of the Villarrica Volcano from this spot.

MOUNTAIN BIKE SALTOS DE MARIMAN
Description: We leave the hotel by bike and ride along an inner trail with gorgeous views of the Villarrica Volcano – the region‘s main attraction – until we reach an Eco park. From here, we walk to an observatory where the impressive Trancura River Waterfalls are waiting to be admired.

TINQUILCO LAKE KAYAKING
Description: Arriving at Lake Tinquilco, in the Huerquehue National Park, we start this activity paddling in our kayaks for around 1 hour. Surrounded by mountains and the beautiful native forest, when we reach the opposite shore we begin to walk along a trail which takes us to charming waterfalls. Returning by kayak, we conclude the tour with a delicious picnic lunch. This excursion is the perfect option for people looking to connect with nature.

LIUCURA RIVER FLOATING
Description: Floating along the clear waters of the Liucura River, we set off from the hotel’s private beach in a rafting boat – the perfect way to observe the beautiful surrounding mountains, as well as the native forest and aquatic birds. This is ideal for relaxation and contemplating nature. We end this peaceful tour with a delicious picnic at the arrival point enjoying the calming sounds of the water.

LIUCURA RIVER FISHING
Description: With our expert local guides, we start this tour at the hotel’s private beach, heading straight to the river’s best spots for fishing. Liucura, which in Mapudungun (the Mapuche language) means white rock, is a river with clear waters, nice structure and smooth currents. During the fishing season it is possible to find rainbow trout, brown trout and salmon – all this, with the backdrop of the marvelous Villarrica Volcano.

TRANCURA RIVER RAFTING

Before setting off we will have a security briefing and test the equipment. Trancura is the most abundant of the region’s rivers, and is surrounded by native forest. This is a very enjoyable, risk-controlled activity.

MAPUCHE CULTURE, PUESCO
Description: We leave the hotel heading to Curarrehue, a small town nestled between the mountains. Here we visit a Mapuche lady, watching her as she works with the loom, and learning a little about her skills and practice. After that, we continue our journey up the Andes until we arrive at Quillehue Lagoon, located at the foot of Lanín Volcano. Here you will have the opportunity of seeing the majestic Araucaria trees (known as Monkey Puzzle trees). To finish the trip, we have lunch at a traditional Mapuche Ruka.

SALTO EL CLARO
Description: Close to the city of Pucón, there is a very beautiful waterfall called Salto El Claro. This cascade reaches 70m high and to catch the best view, we make our way down a steep path, twisting between trees and over roots – a walk you have to be sure-footed to take on, but its well worth it. Salto El Claro is surrounded by the greenest native forest.

HORSE TREKKING PANQUI
Description: This ride starts at San Pedro where the horses will be tacked up and ready for us to ride out into the middle of the countryside passing along beautiful trails and taking in the views of the amazing volcanoes Quetrupillán, Villarrica and Lanín. This is an unforgettable full-day horseback ride taking in mountains, forests and volcanoes – definitely something you don‘t do every day.

VILLARRICA VOLCANO SHELTER (SNOW-SHOEING)
Description: This snow-shoe winter walk starts at the height of the volcanic caves surrounding Villarrica Volcano, a place with beautiful views of Lake Villarrica. At the base of the volcano, the scenery encompasses Llaima, another incredible volcano. Look out for a scattering of Araucaria trees on this side of the Villarrica Volcano.

Description: Setting off from the hotel in style aboard our helicopter, we soar across the Lake District passing over the active crater of the Villarrica Volcano.
