Paracas / Ica / Nazca
To the south of Lima are the fascinating cities of Paracas, Ica, and Nazca. In Paracas at Pisco Bay, you’ll find the Candelabra of the Andes, a perplexing ancient geoglyph carved into a hillside. At almost 600 feet tall and best viewed from the ocean, it can be seen from an astonishing 12 miles away. Only an hour away is the city of Ica, where the Huacachina Lagoon is a true desert oasis surrounded by palm trees, sand dunes, and places to kick back with a drink in hand. And in Nazca are the Nazca markings, large geoglyphs impressed into the desert soil. They are one of the most talked-about mysteries on the planet and have been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a tour from the air to view the different designs, such as a spider, hummingbird, and monkey.
